A Little Follow Up

Well, we made it home safe after our little tour around Costa Rica. The day before we left Monteverde, PJ walked across the street to where our three canine amigos live. There in the middle of their scruffy lawn sat my missing sandal! Slightly worse for wear with a few teeth marks but perhaps it just adds a bit of character and a souvenir from our road trip.

Back at the villa, Cameron had everything in order. Kathia came in the morning before we got home and cleaned the place up, so it was as if we’d never left. The pups were happy to see us and we were glad to get a good nights sleep in our own bed.

Empty Nesters

For the past several months we’ve had a kiskadee condo in our main bathroom window. The glass opens at a slant creating a perfect overhanging roof for the baby birds. Every time you go to use the bathroom you are scolded loudly by the adult birds. I always walk on eggshells hoping not to be castigated.

Yesterday, the last youngster flew the coop. He had gotten his foot caught up in the twigs of the nest so I removed the screen and freed him. Now, I still haven’t broken the habit of walking softly but it’s so silent now. No baby tweets or shrill warnings. We’ll just have to wait for next spring because it seems they always come back. This is our third brood. Adios little buds.
