After a quick overnighter in Hammond, along the Canadian border, we made a quick jaunt further south to a campground on the Kennebec river near Skowhagen. We got parked up on the riverbank and proceeded to set up. There was a mobile mechanic doing some work in the park, so I got him to come over and help me with the brake/tail/turn signal light problem. Jeff had it figured out in short order. All of the bulbs had corroded in their sockets and rusted out. I drove into Skowhegan and picked up some new ones at the parts store and spent the evening getting everything in order. I’ve been roaming around the past 400 miles or so on the cheesy little trailer lights I rigged up back in New Hampshire when the Fed-ex guy pointed out to me that I had no rear lights. Back to being legal.

I’ve been pretty much been on a mechanical journey with the RV since returning to the northeast. First up was replacing the catalytic converter that was stolen while the rig was parked up at the storage center. Then it was Calder Connectors, oil changes and general lubing up anything that moves. One connector blew out as we were nearing the cousin’s on the way up. Had to do a stinky road side repair, moving the new grey water connector to the leaking poo water joint and then patching up the bad connection with silicone wrap and using it at the grey hook up. Good thing I have a rolling shower with me. A quick rinse and we were able to arrive in time for the reunion.

Day two at Two Rivers was a lot more relaxing. We slept in, sat and had coffee then tossed the paddleboards off the dock and went for a long tour of the river and adjacent stream. A beautiful stretch of water surrounded by forest on both sides. Good exercise and exploration. A little over four miles.

Did a run into town looking for a card reader for the iPad since I’m having a crap time trying to get the Olympus water camera to download pictures. What a poor app for getting the pictures onto the computer. Unfortunately, Walmart was my only hope and they were a bust. More lounging and an afternoon paddle around the little island out front. Spotted an otter but he didn’t stay around long before diving below the surface and out of sight.
