Spa day for the RV

Today Wilson the RV got new shoes and glasses.

I was up early getting the RV ready for the boys to move inside and get started. I off loaded my bike and took a ride around the nondescript city of Searcy. Like many of the little burgs along the road lately, lots of the merchants are struggling. There are shells of old grocery stores that are now second hand thrifts, cheap junk shops or just plain abandoned . Dollar Generals are the dominant chain. Rare to find a Kroger or Publix anywhere.

I killed a few hours having breakfast at IHOP. Then I sat in a Starbucks and used their wifi for awhile before going back to sit in the lounge at Fog Drs. Managed to book camps for the next week. Making sure to get a spot in Taos before they all fill up.

Like new!

By 2:00 the work was done. Three dual pane windows that had had their seals come undone and the glass distorted in between the panels from sitting in Rhode Island were now as good as new.

The crew working on the RV also noticed that the front tires were started to come apart. The left front was separating at the sidewall while the right had some cancerous looking dry rot expanding on the side. Sketchy.

Not wanting a blow out down the line, I visited a few tire shops in Searcy. Neither had the right tires on hand. I continued on to Russellville where Sam at Hindsman Tire fit me in and set me up with a pair of Yokohamas right at closing time. These will fill the bill and give me peace of mind down the road.

New Shoes!

It was evening when I rolled into Old Post Road campground on the bank of the broad waters of the Arkansas River. I parked up overlooking the river and had a long chat with PJ back home in Costa Rica while barges plied the fast moving surface of the Arkansas.

Put everything in order then ate the last of Joe’s homemade stew while watching the sun dip behind the trees on the opposite shore. Uplifting end to a long inglorious day.
