Getting Things Done

It was a take care of business kind of day here on the river. But first, I went up to the office to pick up some deliveries I had sent here. A coupler for the gray water plumbing and the new latch piece for the entry door. Before going to work though, I decided to see what was possible as far as paddling goes.

The river moves pretty fast. I launched from shore and immediately put my head down and went to work. I was gaining oh so slowly but moving forward nonetheless. There was a point at the docks of the complex next door where the current was sweeping around the edge. I came to a standstill. Paddling like mad but going nowhere. Not losing, not gaining. Like a treadmill. I started laughing. I had to go ashore and walk around the dock and take off again on the other side.

In the end, it took me 33 minutes to go a mile upriver and 14 minutes for the return trip. All downhill! Lots of little boils and whirlpools.

Then it was on to projects. I finally had a replacement for the plumbing connector that failed back in Maine. I have to give props to rescue tape. The roadside patch job held up until this point. Nice to have a new seal.

Then I reglued the heating mats for the water tanks. Bought the super 3M adhesive and bonded them back on. For extra piece of mind, I secured the edges with gorilla tape.

From there, it was on to the door. It’s been operating on deadbolt only since the latch broke locking me out back at Bluewater Lake. Got it figured out and it is back in action.

Easy day. Swimming, reading and playing a little guitar. Changed strings while I was in project mode. Sat out on the sand for sunset. Only guy at the campground. Things are pretty quiet.
