Barbecued Farewells

Another easy day in Oceanside. We slept in and did some meditation to start off our day. PJ took off at lunch to go visit with her friend Jeanine and check out her new music store, Carlsbad Village Music and Village Vibe, in the heart of Carlsbad. Right at the intersection of State and Carlsbad Village Drive where Giacolleti’s used to be. She has remodeled and set it up in her unique artistic style. The ladies had lunch and PJ toured the new store which will celebrate a grand opening party this coming weekend. https://www.carlsbadvillagemusic.com. Don’t miss it!

Meanwhile, I lounged at our AirBnB reading, goofing around with the guitar and swimming in the pool. I took a meandering walk around the neighborhood checking out the houses and getting a feel for the area. Another picture perfect day weather wise. PJ came home mid-afternoon and I took the car and saw to a few errands – dropping off cleaning, picking up a gift certificate for my dad and depositing a check at the bank among other stops.

We spent the remainder of the day reserving our strength for my Dad’s birthday dinner tonight. Today’s his actual 90th birthday. Last Saturday’s gig was for the neighborhood, tonight is more of a family gathering. When we arrived the barbecue was piping hot and Sandy soon had the steaks sizzling on the grill. The Danes only have a few days left until they fly out Friday, so this was also a send off for the European visitors (and PJ).

They had spent the day wandering the Wild Animal Park out in Escondido enjoying the animals and checking out the park. We all dined on an amazing steak dinner with lots of conversation and plans for the next get together. Dad invited everyone back for his 100th, so we’ll keep that date open on the calendar. A coconut cake and some fond farewells saw us out the door and headed back to our little sanctuary. Have a safe flight and we look forward to meeting again soon. Much love and Godspeed.
