Cooling off in Ute Lake

Found a couple of weak bars on our internet hotspot this morning and managed to get off a post from yesterday. I had to abandon a few of the photos I wanted to post because it starting waning and the downloading just got too slow. Worked hard trying to get one single picture downloaded for Pete and Carole’s anniversary wishes, but finally had to give up and go out into the real world.

Meanwhile as I’m wasting time inside the RV, the sun has come out and the day is a gorgeous one here at Ute Lake. We got our beach gear together and walked down to the water’s edge and turned loose the hounds. Water was a perfect temperature and we all enjoyed an awesome swim in the clear, clean water.

A group of military guys were doing some water warfare drills just off the dock jumping in the lake with all of their clothes on. They let off a big red sulphur smelling flare and it wafted right over us. I swam a lap around the buoyed off swimming area and it felt really good.

We sat on a bench in the shade and fed the dogs. They ate pretty well and we were able to avoid having the flies and ants at our campsite by feeding them at the beach. Still have to keep an eye for the sticker bushes. Koda got a few more in her feet and we had to pull them out. Only real negative so far on Ute Lake. It’s nice being hooked up to electricity because last night when the lightning and thunder came through, we were able to crank the A/C and keep the dogs from noticing the rumbling of thunder so much.

After a few hours at the little beach, we returned to camp and had a lunch of baguettes, cheese, and fruit. Perfect light lunch for a sunny summer afternoon. Our little brick wind shelter does a good job of keeping us from getting blown away while we eat.

After lunch, we went inside the RV for a little rest in the coolness and to see if I can get Pete and Carole’s anniversary congratulations to post. If not, it looks like we are biking into Logan to use the Internet at the laundromat (only Internet in town as per the camp host). We are pretty much out in the boonies again and that’s the way we like it.

Rode the bikes into Logan and sat at the Annex bar and Grill and used their internet to post our blog for the day.
